Diets fail because the word "diet" is ingrained into the brain. Your system starts to panic. When you walk by the chocolate cake you are denying yourself, your brain says, "Hey! you can't have that! You are going to be crazy if you can't have it!" Then, sure enough, you begin to feel the pull toward the cake, telling yourself you can't have it. Just like a child being told no, the desire becomes even stronger.
