Q. I DON’T THINK I NEED VITAMINS – I EAT A WELL BALANCED DIET.
A. What do you consider a well-balanced diet? Your answer will probably be:
meat, vegetables, dairy products and grains.
These foods are devitalized and preserved by our modern day methods. Most of
today’s vegetables are grown on very poor soil, force grown with chemical
fertilizers, sprayed with poison sprays. They may look good but have very little
nutritional value. They are stored for weeks and months. They lose up to 80% of
vitamins after 48 hours storage.
Therefore, we need food supplements because presently we do not get the food
value out of our foods that we did years ago.
Q. I HAVE A GOOD GARDEN AND GET ALL THE VITAMINS FROM THE GARDEN.
A. You would have to eat them all year round and
mostly raw to get the full food value from them. About 90% of the people in this
country have digestion troubles. They get little food value out of their
foods.
The digestive system cannot prepare it good enough so the blood can absorb it.
They need concentrates (vitamins) without the bulk to add to their diet.
Stress and tension in our lives makes us require more vitamins.
Antibiotics, drugs, aspirin, soft drinks, cold medicine, and many preservatives
in our food leave the intestines sterile. Vitamins are manufactured in the
intestines; if no bacteria is there, they cannot be manufactured.
To get the most out of our gardens – they would have to be all organically
grown – no poison sprays on them or no artificial fertilizers.
Q. I AM ON MEDICATION, IT MAY BE HARMFUL TO MIX THESE VITAMINS WITH MY
MEDICATION.
A. No. These vitamins (Shaklee) are in complete
balance with nature. They are a food, not a drug. These vitamins are not a
man-made synthetic. They are as balanced as nature. No coal tars, artificial
color, flavor or artificial sweetener or sugar added.
They are a food concentrate, with all the fiber and the parts that the body
cannot use taken out. If the food that you eat does not interfere with your
medicine, then these food supplements will not either! They are derived from
live fruits and vegetables. They are a food, not a drug! I’m sure your doctor
wouldn’t tell you not to eat food would he?
Q. I HAVE TO ASK MY DOCTOR FIRST . . .
A. If your doctor has told you it is all right for
you to eat – then you wouldn’t call him before every meal would you?
These food supplements are just what they are called – concentrated food to
supplement your diet with essential elements that you are not getting in the
highly processed and preserved foods of today. You need them to keep your body
healthy and alive. If you are getting more than you need of one vitamin, the
body will take care of the excess—store it or expel it.
There is no need to ask your doctor if you should take these fine Food
Products!!!
Q. MY BODY CAN USE ONLY A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF VITAMINS AND MINERALS.
A. This is true: our body can only use a certain
amount, but the amount it will use depends on:
1. the quality and quantity of food we
eat
2. the ability of the digestive system doing it’s job
3. the mental and physical stress we are under
4. individual body chemistry
5. air we breathe, water we drink, preservatives, chemicals and additives in our
food
6. health or sickness, injury or surgery
7. climate conditions in which we live
The fat soluble vitamins the body can store real well. Vitamin C the body cannot
store. If then, we should get more of one vitamin than the body will need, it
will store it or flush it through; but only if the vitamins are made from 100%
natural source and if it is a live vitamin. Dead vitamins can be very
toxic.
So we see it is very important to spread the table so that the body can choose
how much it needs in order to keep it from being deficient and so that the body
chemistry can function properly.
Remember everyone is different and we all have different weaknesses. Test
yourself by taking more or less Vitamins. The amount that makes you feel best is
what is best for you!
Q. I DON’T NEED VITAMIN C - I DRINK ORANGE JUICE.
A. Oranges are a source of Vitamin C. Lemons are a better source and Rosehips
are the best source of Vitamin C.
Nutritionists say that too much orange juice changes the P.H. in the blood. One
8 oz. glass of orange juice is plenty for one day. If you eat the whole orange,
you get the fruit in balance. This only goes for oranges.
There are bioflavonoids in the peel of citrus fruits, and the bioflavonoids are
the curative agents. They will fight colds at any stage.
Rosehips contain up to 6,977 mg. of Vitamin C per 100 grams. Oranges contain
only 49 mg. per 100 grams. One (1) Shaklee Vitamin C tablet is equivalent to 4
oranges.
Vitamin C cannot be stored in the body. A normal body uses 100 mg. of C very 3
hours. Everybody requires different amounts of Vitamin C, depending on job
stress, emotions and health.
We would have to find organically grown oranges (not sprayed) picked ripe, in
order to get the full benefit from the orange. Canned or bottled orange juice
has practically no natural Vitamin C left in it. The Vitamin C is lost by
processing, so they add a little ascorbic acid to it, which is synthetic and
man-made Vitamin C. The synthetic is toxic if taken over a long period of
time.
Q. I CAN GET MY NATURAL VITAMINS CHEAPER.
A. You get what you pay for!!!
The name natural and organic does not mean that all of the products you see on
the market are natural and in balance with nature. You can take cheap synthetics
or a little ground up alfalfa or rosehips and call it natural. It is not always
in balance with nature, though.
Heat-treated raw materials lose all the live enzymes in them. Poor raw
materials, bad coatings, loss of vitamins, bad binders – all of these cannot
be digested properly. Oxidized raw materials destroy vitamins. That is the way
most of the so-called natural vitamins are prepared. They act as a stimulant –
but do nothing to repair the body. Shaklee Food Supplements actually repair what
is out of line in our body. Get results from Shaklee. You get Quality!
Q. I DO NOT NEED INSTANT PROTEIN
– I EAT LOTS OF MEAT.
A. Meat is a source of Protein, but it is not the
best source of Protein. Animal protein is second hand protein.
The animal kingdom gets its protein from the vegetable; therefore, the vegetable
is a better source of protein.
Unless meat is eaten raw there are no live enzymes left in it. They are
destroyed by heat. The digestive system has to work a lot harder to digest this
type of protein and a lot of it may not be absorbed.
There are 8 essential amino acids. In order to get them from meat, we would have
to consume a portion of the whole animal. The body cannot manufacture these
essential amino acids. Shaklee Protein has all eight essential amino acids in
proper proportion.
Low quality protein in some foods may have synthetic amino acids made from coal
tar. Shaklee Protein is an ideal soybean protein that has not been heated or
genetically modified. It is a live enzyme product. It is assimilated easily into
the blood stream. One tablespoon is equal to eating a pound of steak. The body
does not have to work so hard to digest it.
